CUTTING-EDGE FIRST RESPONDER TECHNOLOGY TO VENANGO COUNTY
Sourcecast Presents First Responder Interoperability technology
RESTON, VA and FRANKLIN, PA, May 21, 2008 - Sourcecast today announced the first trial in Pennsylvania using a cutting edge technology allowing communications and information interoperability between and among Fire, Police, Emergency Management Services and other First Responder networks to communicate with each other - even when operating on different frequencies.
In the event of a disaster, it is important for First Responder units within the same area and across state or county lines to communicate with each other. However, as evidenced in many recent disasters, oftentimes these first responders are not able to communicate even when they are within yards of each other because they operate on different radio systems and/or frequencies.
Sourcecast has developed a platform-independent, cutting edge technology that handles frequency mediation allowing different radio systems such as Motorola® and Kenwood® to be interoperable even if they are on different frequencies. By doing so, Police, Fire and EMS are able to communicate as if they were all on the same system.
Current interoperability technology between disparate radio systems usually come with high upfront dollar price tags, significant hardware investments and are based on a closed architecture. Local governments and communities generally have to replace their existing hardware with new, expensive compatible hardware to connect these networks.
Sourcecast provides affordable First Responder interoperability solutions using a secure, web-based overlay communications technology that does not require local governments and communities to scrap their existing systems or have to buy new equipment. In fact, with Sourcecast technology, local governments and communities can leverage existing networks and hardware with a very minimal monthly investment. The monthly lease cost for Sourcecast technology is generally less then the monthly maintenance fee for expensive hardware-based solutions.
